Switching workspaces, or switching from the terminal to a full GUI driven application can be distracting and pull you out of your flow state. Terminal driven applications allow developers to use applications in a manner that are consistent with other tools they likely use in the terminal while working. Software developers can also make the case for staying in the flow state. You are just thinking about what is in front of you each second. At the time of writing this article, opening the desktop app, on my personal 8 GB MacBook Pro M1, consumes 10% of my available RAM!
